Through my own experience with many KDE auxilliary components, reason why i parted from many of them despite them being very useful compared to the (imo) dumb gtk/gnome stuff, is that they're very finnicky and break constantly, especially when outside the KDE desktop.
Dolphin is probably the worst offender, i used to before struggle to put media sorting stuff nicely, only for it to break a couple updates later, it broke it's "relationship" with ffmpegthumbs, mediainfo and even with qtwebkit slightly (like kde frameworks usually do, they also affected Falkon recently a little bit), i had to file bug reports and only got fixed partially etc.

And yeah i know Trinity is port of KDE3.5 but they are abstractizing the old libraries thru gtk and qt5.

You will need to use a real media manager (like xnviewmp) or a file manager with standalone ffmpegthumbs (i use doublecmd-qt5)

PS. if you have the time file a report anyway, maybe you will deal better with them, still you'll need to respect their template thing and whatnot https://bugs.kde.org/buglist.cgi?component=view-engine%3A%20icons%20mode&order=changeddate%20DESC%2C

Good morning,
Currently I still have the video thumbnails in Dolphin on Artix OpenRC XFCE.

My personal recipe for adding Dolphin to Artix xfce:
Code: [Select]
sudo pacman -S ark dolphin kdegraphics-thumbnailers kimageformats oxygen-icons qt5-imageformats

N.B. I am using oxygen icons and Adwaita themes in xfce4-settings-manager

I add kim4 (AUR) which is quite old, but very practical :
Code: [Select]
yay kim4
1 aur/kim4 0.9.8-2 (+3 0.00) (Installé)
Kde Image Menu to compress, resize, convert, rename and much more
