Display turns black when I change resolution. 30 June 2023, 19:23:07 The IssueHi, I've been running Artix for almost a year without any major issues so far. I don't know how this occurred, but my machine will only accept one resolution for the laptop display, which is not the default one for the display. Whenever I change resolution using xrandr, the display turns completely black. The default resolution on my Thinkpad Z13 Laptop is 1920x1200, but I am stuck on 2880x1800, which is an unusable. I do not have this issue on my external monitor, I can use the default without problem. What I Have Tried1. I tried changing kernels, which worked at first.I transitioned to the zen kernel, and the issue originally disappeared, but came back after a reboot. I then installed the LTS kernet, without any luck.2. I tried changing window manager.I switch to the most minimal .xinitrc config possible, only running twm, and the issue persisted.System Specifications & Logs- System Information (inxi output) : http://ix.io/4zsJ- xorg.0.log: http://ix.io/4zsF- xorg.1.log: http://ix.io/4zsGThank you for your help! Re: Display turns black when I change resolution. Reply #1 – 30 June 2023, 22:23:22 With a somewhat similar issue I reduced the refresh rate from 60 to 59.95 Hz and this somehow fixed it.artist
Re: Display turns black when I change resolution. Reply #2 – 01 July 2023, 00:59:04 I just remembered I had a similar issue once, and I managed to fix it this way, but no luck this time.Still on a black display :/Here is my xrandr output: http://ix.io/4ztMEDITI installed xf86-video-amdgpu, rebooted, and now my my xrandr output looks like that : http://ix.io/4ztOI have no other resolutions available, which looks like is what is my actual issue. Don't know if that is relevant tho.EDIT 2See this post: https://forum.manjaro.org/t/only-one-screen-resolution-available-on-kde/68227/13 The gentleman here had a similar issue. What worked for him was changing his graphics card. He mentioned it was likely a divers issue since it worked fine on Windows.I have a laptop so changing my graphics card is not an option unfortunately. Just thought this would be useful.EDIT 3Downgrading to the 6.3.6-artix1-1 kernel did "solve" my issue. Which is weird because switching to the LTS kernel did not help. I guess I'll just patiently wait for a fix in the next update. Last Edit: 01 July 2023, 03:50:40 by turtlesoup
