Dot Src Main Mirror is Not Reliable

If I remember correctly the name, the main repo "dot src" is not reliable. Despite this its at the top (I'm in Europe). It happened in the past totally breaking updating. I tried it again after not using it for a year and here it goes again. A week did not pass and its broken again, spewing garbage and breaking/stopping/crashing/"ddos type" slowing updates. Time for more reliable new "top in mirrors" main repository. Any ideas?

We'd like a few confirmations on this issue from other users, if dotsrc has gotten too sensitive about serving mirrors then it should be moved further down the mirrorlist.

I remember it causing problems in the past too, but on my most recent install I hadn't got round to altering /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist, so the dotsrc mirror is still at the top, but I haven't noticed any difference here to updating my other installations which don't have that. It has also given fast download speeds on those occasions when I have been connected via direct fiber. There is such a thing as online caching that could affect things, possibly relating to your particular isp, you don't always receive content directly from the source server due to the way the internet works.

It's at the top of my mirror list and not giving me any issues that I've noticed.

It is also at the top of my mirrorlist and other than the issues I had a couple of days ago in this thread: https://forum.artixlinux.org/index.php/topic,5831.0.html, I haven't had any other problems and I am located in the UK. I last updated this evening.

Hello from turkey,

I faced server timeout problems couple of time, But I can't say the cause is server or my ISP.
also there are times that this mirror gives me a 5 kb/s speed, yet again I don't know it's ISP or server.
The recent update was fine. next time I face it, I'll try to find the cause.
I use default pacman mirror list.
