Re: the card the reviewers hated almost unanimously.. what what? Reply #1 – 18 September 2023, 17:19:38 now see the problem is that this requires an extra 40 watts of power that the pci bus cant supply and on a sff pc office build with a power supply of 250 watts or so, that's a problem. their 8 pin connector needs to get power from somewhere.]In the first video he gets it from sata connector adapters. on a sff office pc build i dont think that's going to work. on mine there isn't a lot of head room left on the powersupply and trying to run several hdd/ssd's would cause one to not be read and i assume it's just because there isnt enough power. i'm guessing that nvme's sip power compared to a mechanical hdd.my i7 770k hp elite desk g3 probably cant afford taking that 40 wats off of sata connectors. granted i can unplug the dvd drive as it's never been used. i could take 20 watts from that side and 20 watts from the hdd satahttps://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05369814#AbT6so realisticly it's an 80+ bronze? but in any case it's still 180 \watts. the i7 7700 is kneecapped at 65watts which is a good thing.. i have one 2.5 inch mechanical hdd. a 2 tb nvme drive a 500 gb nvme drive a couple extra case fans and some usb dongles for mouse and keyboard and an m.2 bt/wifi card. my gtx 1650 low profile card operates off of the pci bus. i7-7700 65 watts, current card 75 watts but def less. that's 140 watts. 40 watts is what's left to power the nvme that's actually working, as the other just sits there idle mostly, same goes pretty much for the mechanical hdd, it's mostly idle. def gonna need an additional external powersupply.

Re: the card the reviewers hated almost unanimously.. what what? Reply #3 – 18 September 2023, 22:57:53 Most important question is how much smaller is a SFF PC (incl. your current one) compared to a custom cubic shaped mini itx build? At least to be worth it spending the money for that gpu.Still remarkable how they fit such a gpu on a tiny low profile board, kinda like those mxm laptop guys in the past, but not worth it in your case.It should work reliably if you limit at 100w, and remove the mech drive, like if you have 2tb of nvme the drive is for backups only anyways. 1 Likes

It's the multipurpose drawer cluttered to the max. With a 2tb nvme i can safely withdraw the hdd. slapt it in a usb case nd park it in a drawer until needed.
