[SOLVED] Displaymanagers

Situation : fresh install using base-openrc

Installation goes smooth and fast until I install displaymanager-openrc and SDDM .
Upon reboot SDDM comes up just fine, presenting the expected login-window.

SDDM accepts the credentials but the desktop (plasma) is not started.
Swapped to tty3, desinstalled SDDM, installed SLIM and edited the necessary files and restarted xdm-service.
SLIM accepts the credentials and fails to start the desktop.
SLIM blocked all tty's CTRL+ALT+Fx yields nothing.
Added init=/bin/bash at end of the linux-line in grub iot get out.
Desinstalled SLIM and got ttty's back.
Installed lightdm + gtk-greeter edited conf-files and restarted xdm-service.
Lightdm does present a login-screen on tty7 and does one of two things  upon accepting the credentials :
     1.  Presents a blank screen and blinking cursor.
     2. Starts plasma and keeps starting plasma without presenting any usable screen.
Upon desinstallation of every trace of a displaymanager or it's service I decide to try xinitrc.
Upon copying and editing .xinitrc, startx starts plasma swiftly and faultless.

Any ideas into what I might have ***ked up ?

No lightdm-log. Apparently got deleted upon removal.

Desktop with an intermittently faulty sdb1 containing the home-dir provided the answer.
Apparently " No Homedir = No Login"  unless your name is root or you use startx.

Well, No Homedir = No Login, is a normal condition.

This morning a f***ing  m***n with a smartphone and a car destroyed my bike and my laptop and I barely escaped.
This afternoon I get a  " TOLD YOU SO " after the facts.

Thank you so very much.

That's terrible @missedrx‍. Fortunately you survived the ordeal. I drove motorcycles for years and now drive a bicycle occasionally....one needs to always be on guard. I couldn't count all the times that I had close calls.

Best regards.
We should try to be kind to everyone.....we are all fighting some sort of battle.
