I used Debian for a long time and then switched over to Devuan. During a recent upgrade to Devuan Chimera matters did not go smoothly and I rolled back (from backup) to the old stable Beowulf. When I came across Artix I downloaded it and tried it. Since I liked the simplicity, lightweight and DIY nature of Artix, I started using it for my day to day work with the MATE desktop, while keeping Devuan for emergencies. Now that I am more confident of carrying on with Artix I have removed Devuan.

I'm on Arch since 2008.  Switched to Cinnarch-Antergos around 2013.  Was the last mod remaining on the sinking Antergos boat until the very end, when it sank 1st July 2019.  Don't use Arch or its systemd-infected clones since then.

Looking for rolling and systemd-free distros, came across Void.  It has dropped systemd around 2015.  Void made me to fall in love with runit.  Once stabilized, Void rolls smoothly for about 6 years now.  Keep its entries hidden in Grub menu, but once or twice a month unhide them and upgrade Void DEs.

Tried Devuan, Beowulf and Chimaera.  While encountered a few breakages in Beowulf, Chimaera remains incredibly stable, without a single breakage at all.  Chimaera is rock solid here.  Switched Devuan from SysV to runit.  But Devuan's runit is not as clean and full as in Void and Artix.  It remains an unpleasant mix of SysV and runit.  Then, never liked fixed release model.  Like Void, Devuan-runit Chimaera still lurks in some partitions, but is also hidden and updated roughly monthly.

Was ignoring Artix for a long time, stupidly judging from distro name only.  It seemed to be smth audio-video-media related edit: oriented.  I'm not of that type.

Installed Artix in fall 2019.  It was an incredibly pleasant discovery.  Unbelievably, it has everything I was looking for:
- very close to the first eternal 8-) love - to Arch
- rolling
- runit
- no systemd

Completely happy with Artix.  Rewards with a warm feeling to get back to home after a long trip.  Don't want to move anywhere from here.

Briefly.  Only Artix is in use.  Void and Chimaera are still present, but don't used.  Chimaera is close to be removed.

Since using Artix, I only use windows when I absolutely have to. Removed  the other linux distros because they're too much headache.  This is the most stable distro I've run, even compared to debian. Which would never work well too often unless I recompiled the damn thing.

Running w/ xanmod kernel, dinit, xfce, and sysget (pacman wrapper)  -- Try not to scream ;)
Plus wine, lutris, and proton-ge runner, w/amd_gpu drivers and no over heating (unlike windows), no perf issues at all.

For those who want to use pamac, just install sysget and search for your packages. It won't break your system. I have to hop between 5 distros depending on what's going on with work and home, so every little bit I can simplify is a help.

Plus, grats to the dinit dev!

I can't find another stable linux distro that isn't using systemd that i like as much as artix.  Though if pc-bsd were still a thing i'd probably still be using that.  I have done many google searches for systemd free linuxes and many of those supposed lists included systemd systems, wikipedia included.  Verrrrrrrrrry annoying.  It's a bit like inhaling even a small amount of fiberglass, no matter how much you rinse your mouth and cough to force it out, there just seems no way to be fully rid of it.  Until someone resurrrects pc-bsd, i'm likely here for the duration.

Systemd gobbled up the userland. Guys got a real NIH syndrome issue and it's caused undue harm to linux. Pulseaudio and the fallout from that was enough for the original ALSA dev to say screw it and I don't blame him. So, I went back to bsd (PC-BSD) until that was borked, fully. Lumina sucks as  DE, and it hardly ever simply installs without eating itself. I built a variant of Arcolinux but didn't want to maintain that one on my own, and luckily and thankfully found Artix, so dropped that one too. I'm just getting too grumpy to care anymore. I use the xanmod kernel because vanilla is less responsive for desktops in X or Wayland. Anytime IO is filled the system drags. So, problem solved. And since I know what I'm doing I popped in the chaotic-aur and use xanmod build from there because at the time, it wasn't available from Artix or a member somewhere. Which isn't a complaint; they all have their hands full and it's very understandable.

Devuan was great up until the normal debian issues and then Chimera. All of these just make me feel like I need to shower with a metal brush and scrub clean most of the time.  :D

Currently:

Home computer: Dual boots Gentoo and Artix
Work computer: Parabola GNU/Linux-libre (just curious if the hardware was compatible; will prob. switch it to Artix)
Teaching laptop: Void Linux
Wife's computer (which of course I maintain): EndeavourOS
Raspberry pi home media server: Alpine Linux
"Fun" projects cloud server: Arch (may switch to Artix if I can figure out how to safely do so)
"Serious" work cloud server: RedHat (don't have control over this one)

Don't need Debian. Debian developers are turning into corporate slaves with their strictly notorious "line of conduct". The ArchLinux community (and especially the Artix Linux Community) preserve true freedom (balanced, but freedom), regardless of the bastard political squabbles!..

Other non-systemd distributions I keep using:

Void: mostly sane, but some strange ideas like keeping old kernels forever unless you run a kernel removal tool called "vkpurge." The package manager has cumbersome, numerous xbps-this-and-that scripts and fairly bizarre command line syntax, even worse than pacman. But it works.

Slackware: Do we really need elaborate package management? I'm not sure. I've been testing Slackware (current) for over a year on Thinkpads and find no more upgrade hassles than with Arch-derivatives; in fact, I've found a lot fewer.

GhostBSD: The only Desktop BSD that works outta the box. Easy ZFS install (at least in simple 2-disk mirror), boot environments (somewhat like windows restore points only w/o the mess), sane choice of usable XFCE/MATE desktop environment (probably others, but I really only use this machine to keep backups.) I keep thinking I should do more with GhostBSD as it offers a lot more than just boring old NAS.

From Top to bottom (from top to bottom, the further down, the more rarely ( secondary ) I use it)

Artix Linux
Gentoo
Arch Linux
EndeavourOS
Debian
Proxmox (it based on debian, so?)

That are distros, i use daily directly or indirectly.

Debian i use for example, if i do some experiments (like vgpu passthrough) wich i plan to use on proxmox for testing.

Arch and EndeavourOS i use for bug testing and comparison for my Artix machine. To see if a bug wich occurs on Artix, is happen on Arch too.

And Gentoo? The Distro i started 2007 with using Linux mainly after many distrohops. Not really using it anymore day for day (dualboot). im keeping it up to day, and sometimes its fun to watch my System:

MX on the "it doesn't get used often so doesn't get a regular check for updates" laptop, Also SysV (but can be forced to sysd if a person so desires)..
