kernel 5.11 after installing octopi

Hello,

My system Artix-Plasma-OpenRC (GUI installation)

i'm more a visual type, trying to maintain the system torward Qt have i installed `octopi`.

After octopi-installation `uname -r` don't give out `5.9...` but `5.11...`

By the way, i have also enabled [universe].

Can i and how/what to do for reverting this?

even as a "visual type" I advise you to learn to use pacman in the terminal, it will save you a lot of inconvenience and time

Thanks @alium for your answer first.

Well, i installed artix just last sunday and can redo it, but only if i can stop on kernel 5.9.x or 5.10.x (lts) because i want play with zfs and there, the newst kernel is not optimal.

Is a method to install artix (gui/calamares) using lts?

not with gui.  you need downgrade it manually with pacman -U yourpackage.tar.pkg.xz in terminal.because artixlinux /archlinux is for advanced users,  and GUI  go against their philosophy...

do it too and point this in the `pacman.conf`, what do you mean about?

i don't know where to find the right package,  i also wish to go one version back in Qt and Plasma, those last packages makes in arch a very strange and not reversible Kickoff and this was the main reason to move from arch to artix (beside of openrc).

Anyway, artix installed 5.9.x (first) than installed 5.10.x (lts), can i remain on LTS?

If i want reinstall artix-plasma-openrc with calamares, how can i point to LTS-kernel, Qt & Plasma version?

you need downgrade artixlinux packages, not archlinux packages (downgrader-git is for archlinux's packages). linux and linux-lts are two different  packages, so you can keep both packages.

You can use stable (not weekly) iso, there are older versions. EDIT: But practically you should not run update of system, or you should give all your packages to ignore = (in /etc/pacman.conf). because if you run update, all your packages will be updated again. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pacman#Skip_package_from_being_upgraded

Be careful with the downgrade, because with a larger number of downgraded packages you will break the system! It's not as easy as you think.

Archlinux does not count on that users will not want to keep the latest version.

Greetings. Artix maintains a packages archive where you can find previous versions the same way Arch Linux does. The alphabetical listing is here: https://archive.artixlinux.org/packages/
Search for the "linux" kernel you wish to install (such as the 5.10 version you originally had when you installed your system), download that version to an empty folder. Go to the folder where you downloaded and open a terminal in that folder...then issue this command;
sudo pacman -U linux*
This will install the linux kernel.

To prevent that kernel from updating, go to /etc/pacman.conf and locate the line  "#IgnorePkg  =  ".
Uncomment and edit the line like this: IgnorePkg  =  linux
Pacman will no longer update the linux package.

Read the info links provided by @alium and gain an understanding of the processes and possible side effects.
I too like to use octopi, and it is capable of installing a local package. It is however important to understand what is going on behind the gui.  :)

I seem to not understand what it is you are trying to accomplish. If you use Arch linux downgrader you will install an Arch linux kernel, which will almost certainly break your system. Arch uses systemd, Artix does not...the kernels are not compatible.
What are you trying to accomplish??
The Artix archive that I provided a link for will allow you to install an older version of the  Artix kernel, which I thought was what you wanted. If that is not what you want, please clarify.

Wrong because 'downgrader` can take only Artix -`system` and not arch/core that's disabled by default in `/etc/pacman.conf` in fact:

Right because (,thank you for your link,) also LTS last update (linux-lts-5.10.32-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst             21-Apr-2021 17:07) is not so old or only one day older than artix-1 (linux-5.11.16.artix1-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst          22-Apr-2021 16:34).

So! Finally (thank you again) i can install LTS for more stability but...
if i want play with ZFS, Artoo (is that the name of archiso for artix?) & Co... due the fact these packages come out a couple of days later as the kernel... i have (anyway) to update e.g. end May with packages of end April.

Such a script or app (better) will be great.

Ok. I am not familiar with "downgrader". I use "downgrade" from AUR, and while I find it very handy, it does and will source packages from Arch Linux archive.
