[SOLVED] Firefox-esr from universe causes tabs with media to crash 02 June 2021, 13:41:47 Actually, subj. When I try to watch a youtube video or open another tab with media content, it crashes (see screenshot). There is no such an issue neither with firefox-esr-bin from AUR, nor with firefox-esr from other distros (I tried Void, Debian and Devuan). Last Edit: 05 June 2021, 11:12:07 by VictorBrand

Re: Firefox-esr from universe causes tabs with media to crash Reply #3 – 02 June 2021, 15:08:14 This has been a known bug on firefox-esr for the past few releases. You can apparently work around it by setting security.sandbox.content.level to 1. However, I do see that 78.11.0 release recently came out (the AUR package hasn't updated yet) so maybe that will fix this bug. 1 Likes

I just wonder why this bug is present only in the version from universe, but not in other, despite the fact I use the same config everywhere. I'd rather stick with AUR version of firefox-esr, which works with that parameter set to 4 by default.

The package in universe is literally just that exact PKGBUILD but built in the universe repo. Now perhaps the bin version in AUR (firefox-esr-bin; note that this is different because it is a binary that comes directly from Mozilla) does not but it is (as of yesterday) on a different version so like I said maybe it finally got fixed there. 1 Likes

Neither of other versions I worked with had this issue. I've just installed ff-esr 78.0.11 from AUR, it works fine. We'll see what will be when the version from universe is updated. I'll have a look and report back.
