I have the same error.

You need to start pipewire, it's not started automatically. In a terminal execute
Code: [Select]
pipewire

I've done this but now I've get a different error:

Code: [Select]
ERROR ../audacious-plugins-4.3.1/src/pipewire/pipewire.cc:341 [init_core]: PipeWireOutput: unable to initialize loop

I've sitched to PulseAudio and now is working. In audacious open Settings, then Audio tab and select PulseAudio output.

PipeWire is considered as a drop-in replacemente to PulseAudio, but for now it seems we must still be using PulseAudio.

Hello,

I have been using alsa only for several years.
I removed all pulse packets except libpulse and libcanberra.

I use alsa and the nice and very practical qastools mixer on different pc:

Note: I don't play games and don't use wine or steam.
But I have sound in audacious and in all my apps.
