Openbox + LXpanel behaving weird after recent updates.

So there is my old artix install , some 4 years vintage of age, still rolling and working. No desktop environment, just startx, openbox and lxpanel on the bottom. Since yesterday when I click on any start menu or quick launchers to start stuff (vivaldi browser, double commander, terminal are on quicklaunch) it will show up a little wait cursor and never start the program.

I`m able to do swap into a different TTY and log in as root, have a look at logs, but not really sure what i`m looking for.

This come in red in dmesg, but I guess not related, I tried unplugging the audio interface, starting without pipewire enabled and no joy.

Small thing that does fix the problem immediately - right click on openbox desktop,. and choose exit. Openbox will reload and be working no problems.

You could try having ~/.xinitrc start a terminal instead of lxpanel.
Then run lxpanel from the terminal and you might hopefully see some errors in the output ?
