anyone besides me not have ps4 controllers working in lutris since bluez update?

i dont even know how to begin troubleshooting this.  lutris doesnt recognize my ps4 controller since the latest bluez updates.  they worked yesterday b4 i updated now today they do not.  Though correlation does not prove causation, it is certainly suspicious.  so how do i begin troubleshooting this?

Hello,

Is this behaviour the same for all launchers?  That is, steam games require the steam client be run.  Is your controller functioning properly in the clients?  For each launcher, is your controller properly configured?

Have you tried a different bluetooth manager?

specifically the isuue seems to be with lutris and since i only have the epic game launcher there it's the only thing i can make note of.  Steam client for linux seems ok.  i noticed that i have 2 different off brand ps4 clones and the one has led and it was weird all white  when i initally connected it just to bluetooth.  normally it switched to red when it connects to bluetooth.  this was very different.  when i tried to use it with lutris/epic/eso it never changed it's color.  but then when i used it with just linux steam eso as long as steam was on it would change color to my steam presets of purple.  My other ps4 clone has no internal led by this tiny led bar of a few centimeters long and steam preset has never affected the color of that led.  it tends to not connect the normal way but i have to put it in pairing mode to connect it at all to bluetoorh and then i have to manually disconnect it.  it worked on steam but again not so on lutris/epic/eso.  steam/eso and lutris/epic/eso are the only things i use it with.

for each launcher is my controller properly configured?  well it would seem so since it worked yesterday. i'm not even sure how to configure it on lutris as it has always just worked.  Same goes for steam,  none have never not just worked since 5 years of playing eso.  though lutris is new to me as is epic.  july last year i snagged a free base game of eso.  thats what i have played there.

have i tried a different bluetooth manager?  i'm on mate dinit.  i'n not aware of anything else that works on gtk other than bluez/blueman.  is there anything else to try?  pretty sure not.

Thank you for your reply.

Are you using the native Linux steam package, launched through lutris, with a Linux native game; or are you using the Windows versions installed through WINE, launched through lutris?

If you are using a flatpak, can you verify it has correct permissions to access your controller interface?

Do you have any other input devices that you use when gaming, configured through the launcher?

cheers.

no one here is using flatpak as that nonsense is not working on artix as far as i know

i don't know what part was difficult to understand  i use linux/steam eso and also linux/lutris/epic/eso.  at no point did i ever say i ran steam through lutris.  if you don't know how lutris uses epic and launches eso i dont think your questions will be of much help.

Flatpaks work I think you're thinking of snaps which require systemd?

But anyway your thing where the led stays white is the same experience I always have the first time I pair my ps4 controller.

It won't work when led is white, but if I turn off the controller (hold down the ps button) and then turn it back on, it autoconnects and the led goes blue, then everything is fine.

This is probably not your issue though and maybe you've experienced the same thing when pairing for the first time and know about that quirk.

Sorry I never had any success with Lutris so can't say much to that.

Does
Code: [Select]
sudo modprobe uinput
do anything for you? And flatpak does work, I use it every day.

would the expected result be some output to my screen?  if so then no.
if not then i have to wait for my game to update as they had a major update today.  get back to you on what else it might do...

Hello 'cat herders of linux'

I am sorry you feel animosity toward the community that wants to help you.

My ps4 controller works flawlessly when configured through steam first. Could you please post for us your controller configuration windows, such as the Steam>Settings>Controller page (picture attached)?

Being friendlier will encourage more people to offer help.  Are you able to try the respective flatpaks as well?  They will install any dependencies independent of your system and this may help to determine where there is a configuration issue.

Looking forward to hearing back,

you're not helping by asking inane questions ,  the bluetooth is broken my ps4 controllers dont work like they used to and you are not helping by sucking up my time with things that arent helpful.  not appreciating your irrelevant questions is not the same thing as having animosity towards the community.  this post is not about flatpaks so stop it now.  the issue primarily is with epic store and you want to show me the controller setting in steam.  Thats nice but not relevant and also not new information.  The issue is the controllers connecting to bluetooth behaving differently since the bluetooth upgrade some days ago now.  and while sudo modprobe uinput is relevant to the actual problem i have perhaps, it does not solve the issue.  the issue started as stated after the upgrade.  It's nice you are bored and what to be useful but you are not being useful.  it is not my social obligation to make you feel you are being useful when you are not.

No output means the module was loaded successfully.

It's the fix for this here:
https://wiki.artixlinux.org/Main/Troubleshooting#Steam_does_not_remap_non-Xbox_controllers_to_the_Xbox_layout

I'd try your game again after running the command and see if that happens to do it for you.
this did not fix my problem.

i am still getting the solid white when it connects.  It's weird because sometimes after going into steam first it tends to work as expected in linux/steam/esu and then will work in lutris/epic/eso but lutis/epic/eso never works first.  right now i have spent more than a half hour tryiong to get bluetooth to connect at all and it will not.  i troied disabling bluetooth and bleuman locked up.  none of the menu options on the tray icon do anything so i'm going to try a reboot.  it is very buggy and i dont know how to beigin to problem solve the issue with the blue tooth upgrade not liking my ps4 clone controllers anymore.  my bluettooth mouse seems uneffected mostly except for like now when bluetooth ui crashe dand nothing works.

so only a reboot has any effect.  if or when my ps4 controller disconnects either through time out or manual disconnect the next connect produces an all white led and the ps4 controller is not usable.  sudo modprobe uinout has no effect .  only thing that helps is a reboot.  SO can i now have some help troubleshooting why the recent upgrade broke  my ps4 clones?

now none are working.  i had a third i kept in reserve and none of them are now recognizable in epic nor steam.  they all slowly stopped working since the last update.  it's like a virus ate into their brains and now they connect to bluetooth in blueman but their led is white and epic and steam now too do not recognize them. i have no idea what is going on.  this is some crazy mess.
