Linux distros without dbus?

Hello everyone.

Please tell me what distros exist without dbus?

I know that Hyperbola does not use dbus, but what else? Or is there a way to not use dbus (remove) in Artixlinux ?

Unfortunately It's not possible to create a distro without dbus and still have enough packages available to create a decent desktop on it. That's why hyperbola is stuck with an ancient iceweasel version for example. Lot's of programs are married with dbus,, or depend on software that is.

Hi. Thanks for your answer and opinion. I wouldn't say they're stuck, as I understood from the information on their site, they've been developing HyperbolaBSD for a long time https://wiki.hyperbola.info/doku.php?id=en:manual:contrib:hyperbolabsd_roadmap&redirect=1

Privacy problems

Not to say that D-Bus leaks machine-id across applications and userland which causes concerns on what regards to privacy, fingerprinting, and user control.

Furthermore there are implementations based on D-Bus to record metrics events locally on the device (link to project).

I'm no fan of dbus, and I did try to build relevant programs without it, but had to throw the towel.

They are stuck; they can't deliver the programs their users have been asking for since years in their forum.

So, a desktop without dbus is possible but only with disabilities.

As for d-bus, I understand you. I was just wondering if there are other distros without d-bus besides Hyperbola.

If we talk about programs, I agree with you that their list in Hyperbola is very limited, but as I understand it, this is due to the philosophy https://wiki.hyperbola.info/doku.php?id=en:philosophy:incompatible_packages and the social contract https://wiki.hyperbola.info/doku.php?id=en:project:social_contract of this distro and I don't think it's their fault if the developers themselves create bloated projects or release programs under licenses that do not comply with the FSF and plus they have very little financial support, maybe $500 per month..

I tried to install Hyperbola and configure the desktop, I can say that this is quite a quest)) but if such an experienced person as you did it, then it would not be difficult for you to do it. It would be the same as LARBS from Luke Smith, only without systemD, without D-bus and with a slightly different list of programs.
