The Scottish government rowed backwards pretty fast see here; cats are really popular in the UK. My owner, Brandy (also known as terrorcat), is strongly against feline regulation.

And you'd be right.  Cats absolutely need taurine, a protein only found in birds.  Commercial cat food not based on poultry absolutely adds taurine into the recipe.

Aside from that people should be keeping their cats indoors.  They live longer healthier lives mostly.  Scott's have the right of it.  The solution isnt to ban ownership but to require cats be kept indoors in those areas where endangered wildlife exists.  I however live in a city and do what I can to keep my outdoor cats healthy.   I feed and refer them to services when needed as I am able.
