Bug: OpenGL compositing broken and possibly related issues. 03 May 2025, 22:34:03 "OpenGL compositing is required for screencasting"I get this error when trying to screenshare in discord in kde wayland.I can still screenshare brave tabs though.I also get a possibly related error when I try running spectacle"Process org.kde.spectacle exited with status 1 "Screensharing worked just fine like a week ago on a previous install. Also possibly related, brave keeps giving "aw snap" tab crash errors every so often.Steam (another chromium) app is also really buggy and keeps crashing and restarting.Discord too.I think these might be related as they all got buggy at the same time and they all use chromium as a base. Re: Bug: OpenGL compositing broken and possibly related issues. Reply #1 – 03 May 2025, 22:49:41 minecraft doesn't work either, crashes when I try creating a world. (prismlauncher) exit code 6.Could it be that it's using CPU rendering or something?the restart/shutdown menu when pressing the power button also slows my computer down to a crawl and the cursor updates once every few seconds. Re: Bug: OpenGL compositing broken and possibly related issues. Reply #2 – 03 May 2025, 22:54:07 got a new, unmodded, minecraft instance up. It really seems like it's using CPU rendering. I'm getting 9-15 fps with no mods on 1.21.5, in windowed mode on like 850x480, I have a radeon 6600.my GPU in minecraft's F3 infodump is reported as "llvmpipe".All my CPU threads are being hammered.my webcam in discord also seems slightly delayed. The modded instance probably doesn't work due to it using sodium which makes more of the game render on the GPU in openGL, which seems to be MIA for whatever reason. Re: Bug: OpenGL compositing broken and possibly related issues. Reply #4 – 03 May 2025, 23:06:08 tried watching a video in mpv with hardware decoding through vaapi, it doesn't seem to work either. It uses some other kind of renderer.switching to X11 didn't fix it either. Quote Selected Last Edit: 03 May 2025, 23:13:26 by terrorbyte
Re: Bug: OpenGL compositing broken and possibly related issues. Reply #5 – 04 May 2025, 00:06:00 nvm, after updating my mesa and vulkan drivers. Hardware acceleration seems to be fixed, discord is still crashy though. Quote Selected
