The driver seems ok, just to make sure there aren't other drivers installed, can you post the output of
Code: [Select]
 ls /usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/

Also
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Steam/Troubleshooting#Debugging_shared_libraries
Code: [Select]
cd ~/.steam/root/ubuntu12_32
file * | grep ELF | cut -d: -f1 | LD_LIBRARY_PATH=. xargs ldd | grep 'not found' | sort | uniq
or, alternatively, run Steam with steam-runtime and:
Code: [Select]
for i in $(pgrep steam); do sed '/\.local/!d;s/.*  //g' /proc/$i/maps; done | sort | uniq

Output of
Code: [Select]
cd ~/.steam/root/ubuntu12_32
file * | grep ELF | cut -d: -f1 | LD_LIBRARY_PATH=. xargs ldd | grep 'not found' | sort | uniq
is
Code: [Select]
        libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0 => not found
        libnm.so.0 => not found
        libvdpau.so.1 => not found

Also it says the following after doing "steam --reset"

Code: [Select]
Vulkan missing requested extension 'VK_KHR_surface'.
Vulkan missing requested extension 'VK_KHR_xlib_surface'.
BInit - Unable to initialize Vulkan!
Vulkan missing requested extension 'VK_KHR_surface'.
Vulkan missing requested extension 'VK_KHR_xlib_surface'.
BInit - Unable to initialize Vulkan!

Running the command pkgfile gives this:
Code: [Select]
$ pkgfile libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0
world/gtk2
lib32/lib32-gtk2
extra/gtk2
$ pkgfile libnm.so.0
world/libnm
extra/libnm
$ pkgfile libvdpau.so.1
world/libvdpau
lib32/lib32-libvdpau
extra/libvdpau
Make sure you have:
  • gtk2
  • lib32-gtk2
  • libnm
  • libvdpau
  • lib32-libvdpau
installed.

I was missing I think lib32-libvdpau and lib32-gtk2 (I didn't write them down). I tried running the game again after installing them via pacman, but it still does not play :(

Does it output the error about LD_PRELOAD?

Also it says the following after doing "steam --reset"

In this thread, it was suggested to see this page.

Do you have vulkan-icd-loader and lib32-vulkan-icd-loader installed?

If that doesn't help, it could also be: https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/wiki/Common-issues#errors-about-missing-d3d11-support in other words, either DXVK/Vulkan loader/driver is outdated or not set up correctly, or your video card/driver doesn't support the required features.

I have both, and I've installed dxvk from the AUR (although I am unsure on how to apply it to the wine prefix). I even recompiled proton. Still nothing.

Edit: my apologies for the late reply by the way.

Okay, so I've done the "dxvk_install" suggestion according to the AUR, but it still outputs the same error. Whenever I reset steam via "steam --reset" I get the following kinds of things upon starting it:

I am unsure why you are doing all this process just to use steam, I've been using `steam` from our repos with no problems at all since early Artix days in 2017, I never had to install lutris or anything else (to run steam games I mean), just add some other proton versions to run specific games (I recommend https://www.protodb.com to know which versions of proton works better for specific titles).

Specifically, Batman: Arkham Origins should work out of the box with a new Artix's steam installation (after enabling compatibility mode of course).

My suggestion is that you remove any lutris, steam or associated packages from both AUR and pacman, make sure you don't have any  DXVK or even Wine package in your system and then install just steam from our lib32 repository, enable compatibility mode and give it a try.

The only AUR package that you might need (and note the emphasis in might) is "steam-fonts" in case you don't see some menus text or that your fonts are off or funny.

EDIT: make sure that you also delete your $HOME/.steam before re-install it, you will lost your installed games if you don't back up them,  anyway you can just install them again, I also recommend to change your default Steam library path to some place in your $HOME, for example, I have mine in $HOME/games/steamlib, so in case of disasters you can nuke down your whole steam installation without losing any of your installed games

It was the Proton version. Downloaded and installed Proton Experimental via Steam and it works out of the box.
