The best way is to experiment with that console in serial tty. It has some autocompletion and help for each command.
I haven't created new VMs and didn't dig into uboot scripts for a long time and thus cannot tell you exact answers

Not sure to how do that.

Is there an iso optimized for VMs like Alpine iso that I can easily start on virt-manager?
I just need to select the right arch.

No, ARMtix only exists as rootfs archives
