Request packages missing from Artix repositories [Not Official] 06 October 2023, 08:30:02 Quote from: corysanin – on 06 October 2023, 00:27:25...I also want to help fill in those gaps for y'all as well. I can't possibly know what packages everyone uses unless it's brought up. When I see requests in here, I usually import a few. At least the low hanging fruit....What's not trivial are the updates that involve rebuilding large numbers of packages against an updated dependency or, in the case of this thread, dependencies getting mass-renamed. Coordination between team members is required and, of course, we're all doing this in our free time. On its own, that's not a problem. The updates come out when they're ready. But for the user that runs pacman -Syu every day with Arch repos enabled... yeah, that's going to be a problem....I've added beep, numlockx, and tint2.Hello.First of all thanks for having added these packages.I have open this thread to not pollute the other thread.Feel free to amend the title, or ask me to amend it if it seems inappropriate, same for the guidelines reported below.I think that a similar thread would be a benefit for all users, with some guidelines when asking for having a package included in Artix:- The work is done by developers, that use mostly they spare time, so don't ask to much or pretend a "due date".- packages have to add general funcionalities, like libraries or other service packages needed to run important applications, as example if you use AppImages or similar containers and a missing package is making this application not running on Artix without pulling in Arch repositories.RegardsCarlo D. Re: Packages missing from Acrtix repositories Reply #1 – 06 October 2023, 09:20:59 Great idea. I'll tell you about a request I've had in mind for some time. It's about the plasma-vault package from the world repository, to be functional it needs an encryption engine (cryfs, encfs, gocryptfs) that we don't have in the Artix repositories. So I would ask the Artix developers to implement at least one of them, to avoid activating the Arch repository and avoid problems.Best regards.
