Laptop with nvidia hybrid graphics keyboard/output delay

I have a ASUS TUF FX505DT (Ryzen 3550h, GTX 1650m), I'm running Hyprland and runit. Ever since I upgraded my external monitor from 1080p -> 1440p it seems to run at like 30-40 fps even tho everything is still rendered on the iGPU, maybe it's some kind of nouveau performance issue. I installed the nvidia drivers and set nvidia-drm modeset=1 fbdev=1 to modprobe.d and it's so close to working.  Everything ran really smoothly on the 1440p monitor even tho it was still rendering with the iGPU, EXCEPT of course there's a weird 2 second output delay only on the external monitor that's really noticeable in terminal emulators (i tried kitty, alacritty) it happens when nothing is being rendered on the monitor and I press one button on the keyboard but for example opening a youtube video on the monitor makes the delay go away.
