What is galaxy/amd-ucode-xz for when there is a newer system/amd-ucode?

Ahoj,

I see that there are two packages providing amd-ucode in the Artix repos:

  • system/amd-ucode version 20240220.97b693d2-1, and
  • galaxy/amd-ucode-xz version 20230625.ee91452d-4.

What is the older-versioned galaxy/amd-ucode-xz for?

Regards!

Probably the same reason as with the linux-firmware-xz package, it's upstream became out of date.
I could be wrong.

Older kernels can't use zstd firmware. I think the .xz packages are for people who want , or need, to stay on older kernels.
