Huge amount of issues after recent update. KDE Plasma Wayland OpenRC 17 June 2025, 18:01:59 I have updated the system today, after a week or two of not doing so. After reboot a huge amount of issues occured:- KDE theme reverted to light (only one time)- After SDDM accepts password, it takes more than a minute for kwin to start. In this time only a black screen is visible, power button starts shutdown sequence, just as in TTY, after this minute or more, the startup splash screen appears.- System is very slow, prone to full freeze- Plasmashell does not always start (or it possibly crashes)- Certain autostarted apps with tray icons won't have the icon (possibly because of plasmashell not running)- Auto lock freezes, only on-screen keyboard and black background (instead of set wallpaper) are visible (manual lock works as expected)- Sleep turns off screen, but fan still runs, so it is not suspended- Changing brightness freezes system for more than half a minute before actually changing itSystem info: https://envs.sh/XMS.txt Quote Selected
Re: Huge amount of issues after recent update. KDE Plasma Wayland OpenRC Reply #1 – 17 June 2025, 18:20:18 Sounds like your system is overloaded by some process(es).Did you check with top in a terminal? If that does not show any busy processes then try the LTS kernel.artist Quote Selected
Re: Huge amount of issues after recent update. KDE Plasma Wayland OpenRC Reply #2 – 17 June 2025, 18:37:37 One more issue, that i forgot, iio-sensor-proxy runs, but no longer rotates the screen. There was one process, that was using too much resources, either I or the update reverted the plymouth stopping, recommended in some post here. However, after solving that, kwin still does not start in time, sleep still does not work, changing brightness still freezes the system for some time.I will try the LTS kernel and report back. Re: Huge amount of issues after recent update. KDE Plasma Wayland OpenRC Reply #3 – 17 June 2025, 19:19:37 Nope, with LTS kernel it happens the same (verified from system info and the fact i removed the regular kernel, that indeed the LTS is running) Quote Selected
Re: Huge amount of issues after recent update. KDE Plasma Wayland OpenRC Reply #4 – 18 June 2025, 07:22:02 Downgrading iio-sensor-proxy to 3.6 solved all issues. It was also part of the recent update, to 3.7. Could it be checked if it needs a rebuild? Quote Selected
Re: Huge amount of issues after recent update. KDE Plasma Wayland OpenRC Reply #5 – 20 June 2025, 18:58:17 After checking the -git AUR package, building it on my system, it also caused the same issues. I think this is an upstream bug and I'll report it. Quote Selected 1 Likes
