differing pacman behavior

pacman on my server downloads in parrel and on my workstation looks very different?

Any clue why that is so?

I suppose ParallelDownloads in pacman.conf  is a bit obtuse in its function ?

They should have gone for something more obvious like MultiSuck.

that is not in my pacman.conf - thanks for the tip
