Can confirm that there's something wrong with firefox-based browsers since 143.0.4, here's about:support librewolf 143.0.4-1 from omniverse:

EDIT: Downgraded the browser and the problem still persists, so it's seems to be a problem with dependency...

Solved for me as well, but today I have chosen to reinstall Artix from scratch, including VLC.

This is official package from librewolf devs, it seems like they've specifically locked to ffmpeg4.4

And yes, this fixes the thing above, but this is unacceptable. This shouldn't happen as ffmpeg4.4 is severely outdated.

Yeah I just confirmed on my machine that the problem is (the lack of) ffmpeg4.4, I removed all the vlc packages, video didn't play again, then installed ffmpeg4.4 and now it works again.

I noticed this thread was marked as solved. It took me some time to find the solution hidden in the posts. For those for whom it is not clear : you have to revert to an older version of ffmpeg (4.4) and this solves the problem.
But what is even better : just update your packages and everything will install automatically !
I noticed during my update today that a new version of firefox got installed with a dependency to a new package 'ffmpeg4.4' which will be newly installed alongside the current ffmpeg package and voilĂ  everything runs smooth now :)
