I mean pcbs got some flex to them right?

Dremel work?


The screws from the new cooler/fan are thinner and wont screw into thevmounts on the case.  Dremel, tin snips, hammer and chisel?


The shroud around the old cooler/fan will need some mods from a dremel also

I'm not sure what you are trying to do but if the screw holes are too big for the screws how is a dremel going to help?
Or on second thoughts maybe you are thinking of removing material from the cooler and fan so the old, thicker screws can pass through?

Epoxy putty
would be my first thought as a easier bodge. Mix, fill holes. Screw in screws before set (which doesn't take long with the linked brand, you'd need to be fast or choose a slower curing brand).

Since i cant screw the new cooler fan into the case i have to use the enclosed backplate which causes the pcb to bend when screwing the motherboard back down.  Removing those lifted up areas like the raised screw holes and the middle raised area allows the motherboard to sit flat again.  But then the air shroud needs modification too if its to be used.

But the the aftermarket cpu cooler fan onIy  has 3 leads whereas the stock has 4.

No dremel needed.  Just blood and pliers and a 🔨

I would put a file (the tool not the datas :D) on that. Who needs a dremel when you have half an hour to waste, a cup of coffee and some background stuff to keep you from getting bored, and just start filing :)
It's very cheap too, plus i'm yet to wear down my file and i did everything from plastics to metal to glass with it.

Hadn't thought of a file.  THanks for that.  A metal file would be low cost and more durable than those dremel disks.  Probably easier on my hands and i might have avoided some blisters and several cuts.

Ok so the next step is this fan header.   Rather than modify the shroud around the old cpu cooler fan to fit the new round one, the plan is to place a small fan inside the hp sff case tp blow air out the back vent.  As there are no other fan headers besides the cpu cooler fan,  i will then attempt to install said device which has more options than i need but was the best price for my use case.

i ran two delta fans including at maximum off of one fan header, so 4+ amps, i'm sure the bog standard motherboard can handle current as long as they are PWM (4 pin, which the cpu header and that adapter all seem to be).
As long as you don't mix 3 pin fans in there (where voltage will have to be adjusted instead of pwm value), i guess it's unlimited.

I tried to plugina 3pin case fan and it did nothing.  The fan on the outside I can put inside butfirst it will need some filing.

interestingly how it didn't just go but at maximum, what it's supposed to do, have you aligned the connector maybe it's shifting to the right?
You can in theory wire it manually if you won't see the botch job :)

Ill try again on Sunday.   They have those annoying slots on them.  The old cpu cooler fan is whats on there now tbat i may reengineer slightly.

Had i remembered i have some old amd cooler fans tbat could have screwes into stock heat sink.   Could have saved 16$ and my skin on my hands.


  I was searching amazon for pciex1 cards with fan heacers but found none.  Though i guess if you can put 5 on one adapter cable, a pcie card to replace it is a bit much?
