[SOLVED] Which init system is Artis's default? 30 August 2020, 21:45:04 I'm confused because I actually thought OpenRC is default but wikipedia says that runit is the default one.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Runit Last Edit: 14 September 2020, 20:57:46 by fehigax145
Re: Which init system is Artis's default? Reply #1 – 30 August 2020, 22:21:29 That's interesting - OpenRc is also the default:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenRCBut it's possible to have more than one default, as default is defined as usually singular:https://www.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com/definition/american_english/default_1
Re: Which init system is Artis's default? Reply #2 – 31 August 2020, 14:25:25 QuoteRunit is the default init system for Void[9] and Artix Linux. - This statement is true for Void, but not for Artix, as Artix doesn't have a default init. All three (OpenRC, Runit, S6) are equally well supported. It may just be that OpenRC was first (AFAIK), then along came Runit and recently S6 was added.
Re: Which init system is Artis's default? Reply #3 – 31 August 2020, 15:04:20 There's not really one, but if you had to pick one to call a default it would probably be openrc.
Re: Which init system is Artis's default? Reply #5 – 01 September 2020, 23:19:58 But runit is nice so is s6 so the default is all of them 2 Likes

It'd be mine...and I am kind-of partial to runit for varying reasons (I maintain a port thereof, it's part of my day job, etc...).
