[SOLVED] System locks up at suspend and hibernate since linux 5.4

Hey,

since linux 5.4 hibernate and suspend don't work anymore. When I try one of both the screen goes black as usual and the harddrive head parks, but it keeps spinning and the fans stay on. Pressing the power button does nothing. I have to hold it long or press the reset button. Even if I hibernated, It does boot a new session after the reset. So the hibernation does not complete.

Any idea how to debug this? Does someone else have this problem?

I did not have this problem with 5.3 or 4.19
My mainboard is a K9N Neo V2 (it's at least 10 years old), video card is geforce 9600 gt.

Wouldn't shock me if NVIDIA screwed something up again (assuming you're using the proprietary drivers here).

Hmm, you probably should send a bug report then. I assume this would most likely be a nouveau bug, but I guess it's possible it could be a mesa issue as well. Not really sure myself.

Same issue for me. I found the Linux-ck kernel works but not the latest stable.

Now, I don't know where to report the problem.

Hmm, okay, nice to see other people with that problem.
It gives me hope, that the necessary developers already see it themselves.

On the other hand, the card is a bit older and I guess the majority of the developers (nouveau or linux devs) have newer hardware or just don't care about problems with older hardware.
In the past, linux had the image of working good with older hardware...

So, I switched to a Radeon HD 5770 with the amdgpu driver. suspend works now.

Edit: from time to time after waking up the screen shows the tty with one kernel message about some unregistered/unknown interrupt or sth and I can't use the system. But when I reboot with magic sys-req keys I shortly see runits shutdown messages...
