System drops to _ cursor when disconnecting screen after waking from suspend

This started to happen after some recentish (about 1 month ago) update.
System is Artix OpenRC, Plasma edition, running wayland session. Displays are connected through a USBC hub, one VGA, one HDMI.
(will update system info if needed, I am at work on same device but different peripherals)

One thing to add is that the system does not freeze, I can press the power button and it will start the shutdown process, at least.

Not enough info. What GPU? Happens also when directly connected to a monitor (i.e. without the hub)?

This is an Intel device with integrated GPU. I can't reliably reproduce it, I tried it with another hub, but there it didn't happen, possibly also because I didn't wait long enough, tried it with the hub where it happened already, and in a short time it didn't happen with that either. For context at home I have the device on the hub, put it to suspend at night, for hours, I start it up in the morning, use it for a quarter of an hour, then pull the hub, to bring the device with me, and that's when it happens

I have stated that there is no freeze. System runs still, tty can be changed, pressing the power button starts the shutdown sequence. Were these options removed recently from the kernel artix ships? I have used this device with no such problem for half a year, and only after an update about a month ago did this start to happen

Nothing was removed, major updates tend to break stuff. These last couple of months all key components you mentioned received one: OpenRC, Plasma, kernel. I suggest you start downgrading your way backwards this list.
