Nvidia 340 (dual monitor) + xfce4 sometime freezes

Hi all
I'm Mauro.

I use Artix  on HP z600 with dual Xeon X5650 + Quadro FX1800 (nvidia-340 driver installed)

Sometime the process xfwm4 freezes and the screen is locked. Only the mouse cursor i movable.

I switch  to console screen with Ctrl+Alt+F1, return to X screens with Ctrl+F7 and the screen is black.
I kill xfwm4 with

kill -ABRT xfwm4

xfwm4 is restarted and works again.

I notice that I need to kill all google-chrome processes because when xfwm4 restarts, all chrome istance has rendering problems.

Maybe could be nvidia-340 driver?

nvidia-340 is old unsupported package, so you can't expect a developer to do attention - the package will do more and more trouble and will more and more incompatible with newest linux. Newer nvidia driver (390xx) cannot be used ?

Use picom, it runs smoother, faster and better than xfwm4 and no freezes occur, normally

Also, as @alium mentioned, update your drivers
