An new SoonToBe Artix user, I have a few questions please :) 28 February 2022, 18:13:20 Hi there. The massive systemd antichrist propaganda finally got me, though I'm 2 years late to be here. And I was reading the faq and saw the linked systemd vulnerability reports. Are all of those systemd vulnerabilities fixed by 2022? And are there more vulnerabilities with systemd at this point?I was reading https://sysdfree.wordpress.com to help me decide on which new and unfamiliar init system I should pick as my first one, I decided for s6. Is this an so called "bleeding edge" init system? I don't know much about it yet, but I'm up for the challenge of learning the way of s6 . As I understand it is better to use s6 first to understand how it works, and then use suite66 to help you get around the mundane repetitive commands/practices in the future (1-2 years) - just like it's an great idea to start out with Arch base.iso, and only use installer scripts when you finally "get it" and the breakthrough happens in your brain for the first time xDAn question about KDE Plasma - which of the Artix supported init systems plays the best with it? Or do they all work just as perfectly? I'm an xfce4/openbox user, but today I decided that I want "new and unfamiliar" - everything xD I'll admit I might not end up sticking to it, but I'll give it a shot. Also a silly followup question... is KDE Plasma potentially introducing new vulnerabilities, or we are past that now in 2022? It does look very Microsofty Thank you for reading. I am about to begin the partitioning process and pretend that I hate systemd while I wear my trusty tinfoil hat

And are there more vulnerabilities with systemd at this point? At this point, it doesn't even matter. The main problem with systemd is that its being forcefully pushed onto the GNU/Linux community at large by big corporations. This is also one of the main problems with Rust and any technologies imposed in such a manner. Also, systemd breaks away with the core philosophy behind all Unix-like operating systems, which is to have programs which "do one thing, do it well, and work well with other programs". systemd tries to be everything instead just the init, and does it poorly.Other than that, you can visit links in my signature for just some of the pages I think give the best explanations about systemd:https://suckless.org/sucks/systemdhttps://nosystemd.org/ Last Edit: 28 February 2022, 19:31:40 by strajder 1 Likes

It's nowhere near the bloat KDE used to be. In fact, it's only slightly heavier than my previous XFCE distro, which will remain unnamed. Looks nicer. More homogeneous.I ran OpenRC initially, and that was a mistake. I'm currently using runit, and I'm starting to think that might be a mistake, too... But, it might be that I just don't know what I'm doing with it well enough. So, take my statement with several grains of salt.
