Why does the universe repository exist?

The universe package, like ungoogled-chromium and tor-browser, is not properly updated and does not have the latest security patches applied. This is a security hole.
spotifyd-runit is a duplicate of galaxy.
The universe repository is a hindrance when using the AUR helper, why not get rid of universe?

librewolf and brave-bin are also out of date.
The universe is no longer properly maintained.

It's an optional repo for packages that have massive build times (like browsers for example) so they don't clog the main CI for our actual repos. Some packagers put things in there and update it on their own time. You can simply just not use it. Nobody is forcing you to.
