at-spi2-core update slows things down in VM

I am using artix-xfce-runit-20230501-x86_64.iso (dinit also) as a sample install for virt-manager which I am trying out.

The initial install worked fine, but after a pacman -Syyu in the guest I found that the GUI was extremely slow to start up.

After a few guesses I found that the package update

at-spi2-core 2.48.0-2  --> 2.48.1-1 seemed to be the cause of the problem. I have no idea if this is a problem for real machines, but it certainly slowed down my VM,
