Re: really enjoying OpenRC on Artix! Reply #3 – 23 June 2023, 21:25:12 I was on openrc for a couple of years, then I tried dinit when it came out and have stuck with that ever since, I have nothing against openrc though, an excellent init, just that dinit was insanely fast to boot and easy to understand.Linux is all about choice and Artix has a choice of FOUR different inits, so there should be one for everyone there! Re: really enjoying OpenRC on Artix! Reply #4 – 20 April 2024, 23:05:29 Welcome! I am a new user of Artix and it is really making a great impression! So far I have used everything on systemd. I had no idea that there was an Arch based on a different init. Excellent! I hope I found what I was looking for. Greetings from Poland! Quote Selected 2 Likes
Re: really enjoying OpenRC on Artix! Reply #5 – 11 May 2024, 19:18:34 I too, am enjoying using Artix/OpenRC. Today is my first day using it via the migration steps from Arch.I opted to move this way due to the recent news (and perhaps eventual move) of sudo being removed in favor of using systemd.I'm not a fan of nor dislike systemd, but feel this is the last straw for me since I was using *BSD back in the days when Xfree86 was a thing so I have seen a few changes over time. I'm certainly not a fan of Wayland either so it will be interesting to see where that goes.I would like to suggest a small modification to the migration doc. In the Remove Systemd section, I would suggest removing the following statement:rm -fv /etc/resolv.confSince the next section (Install your chosen init) may require resolving, as it did me, lolAnyways, I'm running this migrated install now and eventually I'll perform a nuke n pave in favor of a fresh install.Keep up the great work devs!cds Quote Selected Last Edit: 11 May 2024, 19:27:36 by cds
