now using samsung crystal uhd tu7000 43 inch tv

running a gtx 1650 with mate desktop on 500 gb nvme drive.  no issue until i switched tv from 1080p secptre tv to 4k samsung hdr10 tv?

artix def detects it properly as samsung 43 inch but defaiulted to 30 htz despite enabling hdr10 in the tv system menu for both hdmui outputs (roku is on the other as i dont want all that what samsung offers)

issue is one program an only one program will open then i have to reboot to run another.

and so i know it's a hdr10 tv and i had tried to use hdr10 setting from samsung but it borked my system.  moving the pc back to the sceptre tv all is fine again at 1080p.  guess this means i dont get to use 2560x1440 res on samsung?

Searching for similar problems with similar TV's, it seems common to encounter issues with some QHD Samsung TV's on Linux, this was suggested:
You need to go to Settings -> External Device Manager -> Input Signal Plus and turn it on for the HDMI output where you have the PC connected to.

On my samsung 4k tv (2017? series) i also use as monitor:
2560x1440@60 just works in framebuffer mode
3840x2160@30 with Input Signal Plus off
3840x2160@60 with it on.

I would also advice entering the factory menu (tv off-> info+settings+mute+power) and set Default HDMI 1 Booting to on, and run a hdmi calibration/agc, which fixed some intermittent hdmi issues i had and possibly that you're encountering too.
That menu also allows doing colour alibration like on the high end monitors.

so you are saying to power the tv off then press info setting mute and power buttons to get into that menu?  it did nothing when i pressed those buttons from tv off.  TY for offering your experience.  That's exactly what i'm looking for.

I read he arch wiki on hdr and so i get that hdr is off limits on nvidia on linux and exists at all only for amd cards with a few hooops to jump through to get it working so i have given that a pause for now.

Hopefully i can just get i working.  My hdmi cable has ethernet built into it according to the tag on the cable and i wonder if that could be the issue?  As of this morning my linux install does not even boot.  Will be reinstalling i guess, maybe.  will try to recover grub first i guess though.

NetworkManager might be acting up again, log in TTY and stop/disable it, see if programs start

And then Jerry came by to help me with my rig skills since my wifi antenna cables are only 11 inches and I need like 20 to reach the pci cover slot.

And then Jerry came by to help me with my rig skills since my wifi antenna cables are only 11 inches and I need like 20 to reach the pci cover slot. so at least i have wifi 6 and blue tooth and i even have the windows pc connected to the tv via bluetooth.

so there is no menu button on my remote.  there is a settings button but that makes no difference to use it instead.  Samsung takes care of the overscan automatically if you tell the tv it's connecting to a pc over hdmi.

Service menu remains lost to me though.  the regular menu allows me to access settings to turn off or on hdr10 for the hdmi i wish to use.  Rokue uses it.  windows could use it.  Linux though wont like it.

Must reinstall something to get grub back before i can even consider anything else.  At this point it's just easier to use my 1080p sceptre tv.  what crazy.

So in the pic, behind the coller shroud is the wifi antena comin out the vent holes.  Also visible are the low profile gtx 1650 and a x4 lane pci card with an additional nvme drive.  it has red led that says nvme when it's powered on.  2, 2 1/5 drives are visible in upper left corner in a adapter caddy for 3 /12 inch slot.

Nah, you would need to take really good care to buy a used tv and only go for sonys or pro monitors basically, so i'd say not.
