[SOLVED] Sudden change on PC boot option as pre grub menu load

My PC boot option, that is pre grub menu list loading, suddenly change unnoticed
At bottom left it echos message kinda:

"Press ESC for startup option"

(previous one is nothing at all)
and worse is, now it cannot detect a present USB drive from which it should automatically boot

although did press ESC, pick BIOS setup and pick Boot Order, moving up and prioritizing kinda: " USB CD/DVD ROM drive "
it still ignore the present USB drive

Anyone know solution ?

EDIT
moving up and prioritizing the line, kind of: " USB diskette CD  drive "
has solved it !

But no idea what caused sudden change in boot order so "OS mainstorage" is on top

I had this happen sometimes on proprietary uefi systems, but for a more standard one it's unusual, so for posterity which system are we talking about?
