Utility to accurately get host computer H/W configuration for kernel build

What utilities or commands sequence can accurately get the native/host computer hardware configurations and can then automatically put them as Yes/M flag values, only if they're really set, and vice versa otherwise, into Linux kernel build configuration file ?
