Community edition's Plasma doesn't remember panel and other settings post logout 14 March 2024, 00:35:18 I'm still accounting for what is not being saved, but so far I've noticed the panel loses its settings previously configured by me every time I log out, that being reboot and logging out. Basically in my next session I know the properties will be warped and defaulted again. Besides Plasma's horizontal bottom panel, Firefox's spelling languages context menu resets to only "English" at every logon even though I have three Firefox language packs installed and have them enabled before logging out, their checkboxes checked. I'll try changing the background next and will update this post accordingly just so that I can post it now as is.Thanks for any lookup into this. EDIT: Plasma background gets preserved after session termination. 1 Likes

Re: Community edition's Plasma doesn't remember panel and other settings post logout Reply #3 – 16 March 2024, 08:18:05 In my case the problem of the panels is in the wayland session. From an X11 session you can change them and they are preserved.Best regards.
Re: Community edition's Plasma doesn't remember panel and other settings post logout Reply #4 – 16 March 2024, 13:13:18 ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrcIs the file that has the settings for panels , widgets and activities. Try renaming it so you get a fresh one. Also I made a script in the lead up to the release of KDE 6 which can backup (and optionally delete) most (all?) KDE settings and also the settings for some core KDE apps. Maybe it would be useful ?https://github.com/gripped/kde-cleanerI was half expecting KDE 6 to bork my settings more than it actually did in the end.The script needs updating now to account for a few KDE 6 changes but most of it is still relevant. When I use sddm-kcm or edit the config file to a X11 session instead of a Wayland/Kodi one, it fails to start, but I'm not sure why, so I can't do this swap you suggested atm. I performed a full syu but to no avail, ignoring a conflict between pamac-aur and pamac, which I am also unable to solve, but this is minor I believe.
Re: Community edition's Plasma doesn't remember panel and other settings post logout Reply #6 – 16 March 2024, 22:19:59 Hi,I have the same problem, Artix linux installed from scratch few days ago (artix-base-runit-20230814-x86_64.iso + plasma-meta 6.0-2). No matter what, I always have pinned to Task Manager:* System Settings* Discover* Dolphin* default Web browser (Firefox in my case)If I unpin any/all of them, they keep reappearing after reboot/re-logon.Best regards, 1 Likes

Re: Community edition's Plasma doesn't remember panel and other settings post logout Reply #8 – 04 June 2024, 08:43:50 You just can't as user have control over your own panel. EXTREMELY annoying. This the most basic functionality. Does anyone PLEASE have a solution for this? It seems changes or not saved to ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc.EDITDived into it.There are more people: There are several related bug reports:https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481113https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481085https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482773Also: see this commit: https://invent.kde.org/plasma/libplasma/-/commit/f7b3e98bd5c777a8c7510ec0edaaba6412cac474 Last Edit: 04 June 2024, 09:20:02 by flushell
