Constantly getting SIGBUS errors on everything as of late

I'm in a very weird situation right now where, for the past few weeks, a lot of different programs that I already regularly use will suddenly exit with SIGBUS and refuse to start up again until I close off other programs still running. This made me assume I was having problems with memory, however usually this happens even though I have more than enough RAM available and plenty of swap space (32GB physical with 40GB swap). Running memtest86+ yielded a full pass, so I didn't get the impression that my RAM was faulty.

Has anyone else suddenly run into this?

Do you mean on the RAM modules themselves, or the CPU, or someplace else? I'll have to open up my machine one of these days and see what to do.

Is this a laptop or a tower?

Depending on the hardware, there may be bad contacts on the RAM, but this is very rare.
More frequently SATA connectors and power plugs are prone to false contact.

It's a tower, and this problem only reared its head in a couple of weeks ago or so.

Just now I've so far tried removing and re-seating all the RAM, and unfortunately this hasn't helped.

Power supplies sometimes caused instability issues.
In fact, it is necessary to proceed by elimination.

To see if it comes from the operating system, you have to run on a live edition on a USB key for a while.

Incredible. Looks like updating KDE Plasma might have resolved this. And here I was wondering if the recent shitshow with Plasma 6 had anything to do with it.

Wayland ?
It's possible, because we read a lot about it on this forum.

Good if it works now. 8)

No, actually, I've been sticking solely to the X11 session. However I did at one point try Wayland too to see if it would help it and the issue still persisted during then. Now I hope with the 6.0.4 update that it's stopped for good.
