hdd caddy for an elitedesk 800 g4 dm 08 January 2025, 17:11:52 So i have had trouble finding a hdd caddy on ebay. i did a search in ebay and the one i ended up with was a g3 caddy and so i'm having to send that back. ebay was nice and refunded me my 12$ which is great as i'm on a small budget. My main question is can i have three drives in this machine? I have a 2 tb nvme 2280 on the left slot and a 512 gb 2280 in the right slot but i know but have never seen the actual hdd caddy that goes in these things. I have a 1tb 2.5 inch hdd i'd like to put in there as well. Cani get that in there too with the caddy? Some people here has some experience with these things?

Plus, they're asking an arm and a leg for it. I'd just order the SATA connector and tape/insulate the SSD bottom, with some padding all around to prevent movement. 2 Likes

Re: hdd caddy for an elitedesk 800 g4 dm Reply #3 – 09 January 2025, 07:38:53 well the 1 tb hdd i have is a spinning disk so movement would be a concern. But yes an ssd and the ribbon cable seems like the way to go. TY!
Re: hdd caddy for an elitedesk 800 g4 dm Reply #4 – 09 January 2025, 16:32:40 I have taped a hdd to a box. But I didn't have cats. When I did it I tapped it upside down so the smooth metel was against the cast to take heat, and the tape covered the circuit board. Ended up the circuit board was the hot part, so... check first.Do you want cheap portable, or three disks in a machine that wont fit? 1 Likes
Re: hdd caddy for an elitedesk 800 g4 dm Reply #6 – 09 January 2025, 16:46:47 This is what I use. Not the cheapest to buy initially but I've still got around half the box left which I bought years ago.SSD's it will hold anywhere. HDD's I prefer be on the bottom surface, maybe, if needed, a side surface. On the top surface it will fall eventually. YMMV, no guarantees. 2 Likes
