I get this occasionally; but I think it is just needed when the gmail login expires over time.

I have three gmail accounts.

My accounts are now two factor and things get a bit confusing.

I am not even sure that I log in to youtube. There's a channel with my name, but I don't have to log in and it doesn't seem to have a gmail address associated with it.

Maybe try logging in on librewolf and see if it happens?   I use librewolf

Well finally manage to visit https://www.youtube.com in librewolf.

It asked me to accept cookies etc etc and I do see a login link in upper right. I don't think I am logged in librewolf, but it doesn't ask me to do anything. If I click on the login I see a google style request, but I don't want to enter any of my emails  as it wiill likely start pestering me on my phone.

My normal browser is firefox and I think my mozilla account email there is one of my gmail accounts. I suppose that's the login being used when I visit youtube. Not much use for your issue I'm afraid

I don't have a Youtube account but Odysee doesn't do this when you log out and log in again:
https://odysee.com/@samtime:1/so,-apple-intelligence-is-kinda-broken:d

Although Odysee might appear to have a higher proportion of "controversial" content this is almost always also found on YouTube and is because people who produce it are more motivated to duplicate their work on other platforms in case it gets removed. Odysee itself is pretty good as an alternative and does have a lot of regular uncontroversial material too, although the search engine on there isn't that great at finding things sometimes.

I suggest get an authenticator. one of the time based one. I have one on both my phone and pc that stores all of them.

you do a security thing where you get a code XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX is the format i think

put that code on both the phone and pc at the same time( with a very short time of each other) and they will both work. So if I blow up my PC, my gmail auth is on my phone. If I blow up my phone, they on my pc.

Aegis on phone, from fdroid
Keysmith on arch

why would you build librewolf?  it's in the repos.

I think it might be something related to useragent. On youtube I use:
Code: [Select]
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; Xbox; Xbox One) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/46.0.2486.0 Safari/537.36 Edge/13.10586 Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 10.0; Windows NT 6.2; Trident/6.0; Xbox; Xbox One)
This way I can bring back a lot of the old UI elements that are long gone

I didn't risk my artix system, I used arch where librewolf is only AUR. In the end i switched to librewolf-bin also in AUR, but less disruptive.
how is there a risk to artix that is avoided by building from the aur?

I don't know what librewolf does compared to my standard firefox. I didn't want to risk interfering with ~/.mozilla etc etc. My arch linux system is work only so smashing it happens quite regularly and I have good recovery strategies & backups.

FWIW i have installed firefox, firefox-esr, librewolf, chromium, chrome, chrome-dev, and opera and ofc web from the gnome project was installed by default also and none of them seems to mess with any other of the similar kind.  Not in years and years and years of using it have i ever found it to be an issue such as you say you are concerned about.

I wonder if maybe i should install falkon too.  one never knows when it could be useful also...
