Re: Gajim 2.1.0 needs python-nbxmpp >= 6.1.0 not yet packaged Reply #1 – 11 April 2025, 22:05:45 These python aps are a PIA!!! to keep up with the constant changing requirement. Look it up in the AUR if pacman -Ss python-nbxmpp comes up blank. It is very hard for our hardworking and little Artix team to keep up with Python programs.
Re: Gajim 2.1.0 needs python-nbxmpp >= 6.1.0 not yet packaged Reply #2 – 11 April 2025, 23:01:15 I know it can be solved by the AUR, or by downloading and manually installing the arch package file, but I'd rather it got solved for everyone, without hacks. This has nothing to do with python, all programs and libraries have versions and all dependencies have a minimum version number as well, with sometimes a maximum one (like a regular C GTK3 app not working with either GTK2 or GTK4)Not sure how many people maintain/develop artix, but in my opinion they are doing a great job!

Python is a particular problem.QuoteNot sure how many people maintain/develop artix, but in my opinion they are doing a great job!Yes they do. That is why I always say please and thank you when I need something and feel grateful that so much of this works. Artix is not a commercial product. It is completely run by volunteers who work hard. If someone feels that this application is worth investing in, they will do so. But when you update a library it affects an ecosystem. Something in the archive is depending on it and that needs to be considered, especially with a python project, even though xmpp would seem to be a narrow use case.Have a happy holiday.
