AND musk does not control it, and does not make it send you a subscription ad every time :)
Which is why i left x for bluesky.

Something else to know, in the interests of "diversity" it has been pre-populated with prostitites and sexual deviants, who tag themselves as such in their signatures - could just be fake characters anyway, as most people in real life tend not to write such info on their foreheads - so don't be surprised if you find a disproportionate number of users of that sort:
"Bluesky launched as an invite-only iOS beta in February 2023. ... The social service attracted minority communities and subcultures, including Black, artist, left-wing, transgender, sex worker, and furry communities, who benefited from the invite system."
 :D
X and Facebook have become antisocial networks by blocking non-members from viewing content which makes them pretty useless for promotional use and reaching out to people in general, while Bluesky and Mastodon don't seem to do that so yes, I think Bluesky is an improvement and more like what Twitter used to be, and involves some of the old Twitter people running it apparently.

Bluesky is not truly decentralized. Their AT protocol and the option to use a "PDS" may lead you to think that, but everything runs through Bluesky's relays that they own. This was made very apparent by the outage they had in November. This post does an excellent breakdown.

I know (seemingly) nobody wants to hear this, but if you want a decentralized social network, you have to use the less popular and less convenient Fediverse apps. Sorry.

That being said, Artix is on Mastodon and I'm also doing a trial run on Bluesky to see if there's much interest. We're still on X formerly known as Twitter too.

Like my grandfather used to say, "I wouldn't want to join any group that would have me."

He also said, "If they don't want me, I don't need to be there"

and Hillel said, "If not now, when"?

When asked about Twitter once, Patrick Strward said, "I don't have anything to say in less than 124 characters" - it was pointed out that  his statement was only 53 chars.
