I am Confused About Artix Linux Installation with Runit — I want guidance

Hey everyone,

I have been exploring some systemd-free distros lately and came across Artix Linux — sounds super promising, I am trying to install the Runit version but I am facing problem & want help from folks who have already gone through it.

I have made it past booting the ISO and partitioning using `cfdisk`. But when it comes to mounting, installing the base & setting up networking , I am not 100% confident I am doing everything right. Also, the runit service management part is still a bit new to me.

I did follow the wiki but I feel like I am missing some steps or understanding something wrong. Can someone maybe break it down in a simpler way or share your typical install flow for Runit?

As a seasoned Debian Sid and Arch user, when I approached Artix the first time, Installing one of the ISO's that contain a desktop (for me, it was Cinnamon), I found that to be an easier approach just to get familiar with the workings (like you, I knew nothing of OpenRC or Runit).

After the initial install, I was comfortable enough removing all things Cinny and that pretty much left me with a base install. Certainly not as clean as just the base, but after a month of tooling around (and keep in mind, I initially installed OpenRC and removing it for Runit) i opted to reinstall with the base.

I used the drive layout I normally would with a manual install of Arch and have since (maybe close to a year) I have been with the second install (this one) and not looked back since.

That how I did it. YMMV.
