Has Linux not been this way for some time? We've had such like Alsa > PulseAudio > PipeWire and similar of what feels like, framework upon frameworks. I'm not technical so correct me if that's wrong, but it feels like needless bloat when I just want to play an mp3 which I have been doing since 1995.
