Connman Ethernet Tethering on MATE/s6 Configuration Fails

Hello everyone,

I am trying to share my WiFi connection from my OptiPlex 5040 running Artix s6 to my brother's old OptiPlex GX280. I know this isn't a hardware problem since I have also attempted this from my Chromebook 11 3189 (same version of Artix) to a MacBook Pro 2012 Non-Retina. This is the error I got from both devices:

Code: [Select]
artix-optiplex5040:[root]:~# connmanctl tether ethernet on
Error enabling ethernet tethering: Message recipient disconnected from message bus without replying

Are there missing dependencies, incorrect configurations, or corrupt files? Any help solving this issue will be greatly appreciated.

TIA!
Serves the Lord, loves tech too much, and wants a better PC... that runs Artix!

Yeah that is not fine.  Those little wifi chips are finicky pieces of garbage.   They often depend on the propitiatory OS to have inside knowledge about the chips deficiencies to make it work correctly.  Their specifications are dubious at best and they often don't like the load of being used for hotspots.

It might be hardware.  It is likely hardware.  Although it might not be.  There is no shortcuts on finding a solution.  You need to take it step by step.

some good wifi hotspot links.  Aside from hardware issues, networking a packet forwarding needs to be turned on and configured.

and FWIW, although in theory every wifi device is a two way radio, that doesn't mean its firmware is designed for external tethering.
