pdf viewer that can submit its form

I'm looking for a pdf viewer that can submit form data when a button is clicked.

My colleague has tried this in windows using acrobat and there we can see that the button click does cause form data to be submiited to a remote URI.

I tried this under arch and artix with mupdf, xpdf, qpdfview & evince and also in firefox and chrome and I get no action.

Anyone know of a viewer that can do this under linux?

I don't know, and haven't tried this either, but apparently you can install and run Adobe Acrobat in Wine.

I do have access to a windows 11 laptop and it can run acrobat, I just hate using both the laptop and  acrobat.

I have nbeen developing PDF software for nearly 30 years and I still hate it  :o

There are several PDF readers and office suites that can edit and save a PDF form, and it appears you can then upload the file using curl, there are various guides online, some specifically  mention PDF forms, what the exact curl command would be might take some trial and error from the suggestions they provide. Again this is something I haven't done myself, but it looks possible.

The requirement is for me to produce a submit button that will upload the form variables to a URI. I can probably do that, but testing that it actually works means I have to use windows and acrobat.

I used to use acrobat on windows before 2020 I tried today on windows11 and the simple reader app has become a nightmare of sales pitches eg use PRO etc etc. It just makes development a lot harder and as I am too old to really enjoy the merde that apps on windows have become I'm thinking of bailing :(
