Not sure if you have a hard dependency on VirtualBox 4.16 or what the difference is between virtualbox-gues-modules-artix and the standard DKMS versions are but I'm using:

Code: [Select]
virtualbox 5.2.8-1
virtualbox-guest-iso 5.2.8-1
virtualbox-host-dkms 5.2.8-1

from community and I don't seem to have any issues with this version combination?
OS: Artix x86_64

Memory: 1129MiB / 64390MiB

That's what I did for now, I removed the -guest-modules-artix and upgraded the kernel
I'm just letting devs know there is a dependency problem with the pkg.
But after removing it and running the 4.16 vms kept crashing, which they didn't do before.

Update:  No conflict with new version of VBox and vbox-modules-artix but now the modules (host/guest) have a conflict with dkms

I am not very familiar with dkms (dynamic kernel ....) and how necessary it is, if one knows please throw a hint or two.

DKMS will recompile any driver you install via dkms pkgs for every kernel update automatically.

As long as you use a terminal, pamac does not work well with DKMS

Use qemu kvm so much easier and less buggy.

I got so mad at it freezing up on me so many times I removed all Vbox from artix, it used to run better a while ago.
Last time I used qemu I was getting mad at it and installed vbox.  It seems I go in circles, every few months I try to use some VM.

I'm not an expert by any means but I live and die by VirtualBox for the last few years and use it 24/7 and don't have any issues even with some pretty complex setups including on headless VirtualBox servers so I'll help where I can if I can.  On Artix, I only had lockups a few weeks ago but after the recent updates those seem to be gone as of the versions I mentioned with the dkms modules and it was only on a Lenovo Yoga 2 pro with a crappy Intel video card.
