mce hardware error, memory failure, cpu 0 tsc 0

Hi all. i have been using windows for 11 years (with this laptop). and i have been suffering for 11 years. full understanding came the other day. i did some research on systd and found you. i am not very good with the linux console, so i downloaded the community version.

I'm currently on version 10. I can't get artix to install on my laptop. i tried with an 8gb flash drive, it died as a result of my attempts. i couldn't reflash it. i also tried installing with the UNetBootin utility, but the effect is exactly the same.

Everything works fine inside the windows system, I don't notice any problems, but when installing a new system I have problems for some reason.

I tried in normal mode, I tried in rob mode, the errors are the same. here is what it says approximately:

mce hardware error, memory failure, cpu 0 tsc 0......

I attach photos. at every first start of windows after black screen with errors there is already a blue screen, apparently this is one of the problems of windows itself. since the laptop does not react to anything at all when the black screen, I have to forcefully turn it off every time, after another such time my flash drive died. I tried all ways to resuscitate it, but no way. it says: "insert the disc into the device" when opening. although it is displayed as transparent.

I myself suspect that the solution may be in some non-standard startup through some special boot loader. then this error may not be there ?

When you get to the boot screen on the iso there should be an option 'memtest'

Choose it and test your memory.
Memory defects is what the error seems to indicate.

what do I do if my error comes out before this screen ?

If you press F12 (I think, might be F-something else) at the "Dell" screen you should have a memory test option somewhere in the BIOS menus. Also try swapping some other BIOS settings around, some options related to secure boot, secure other things, and virtualization will stop my Dell laptops booting Artix.

 I've had a few unbranded USB thumbdrive's fail for no reason, could the errors have been caused by a faulty USB drive or did you rule out that possibility? If you try another, try booting it on another machine first, there's often a self test integrity check done by the Artix iso, and you could try some older Artix iso's in case there's a bug in the latest version that affects your hardware.

It has nothing to do with usb, because I tried using UNetBootin and it does not require usb to boot the system. no difference.

Hello and welcome to Artix Linux!

As someone already recommended, you should disable "Secure Boot" in your PC's "BIOS" and test your RAM.
Then, I suggest you use Ventoy to generate bootable USB keys:
https://www.ventoy.net/en/index.html

Personally, since 2019 I have installed Artix OpenRC XFCE on different PCs without problems. And they still work great.

I don't understand, what is the difference between old artix versions and why can they help me ? do they have something that fresh artix versions don't have ? shouldn't fresh versions also support older devices ?

This could indicate a genuine hardware problem, but because Windows is working it's quite likely a bug, similar error messages have been reported before, although with an AMD CPU in this example:

An older iso may not contain the bug. Your laptop is not too old, I have older Dell laptops that work on Artix, last Core2Duo & 1st generation i7, yours is 3rd generation i7.

Twice I was unable to boot to the most recent ISO, even though an older one worked.
Maybe a bug (it happens to the best)?

I tried installing the distribution from 20230710. no change, same error.

I also did a RAM test before booting the operating system, and the result showed that no errors were found. As I said before, my windows I'm currently writing this post from is running without any problems.

Have you tried with Ventoy?

I have an older ISO that works well and I can drop it on my Google Drive for you.
I can try your image. It'll be good. Yes, I tried venta, it didn't help in any way. no change.
