Botched installation (Wine .msi installer) 06 June 2024, 17:35:39 I attempted to install Pulse Secure by .msi installer through Wine. Installation did not finish and I ended up powering off the system. I've run the installer again and cancelled upon being told installation was interrupted. Is there anything I should 'clean up' after this?
Re: Botched installation (Wine .msi installer) Reply #1 – 06 June 2024, 18:01:17 Wine installs everything Windows related in a WINEPREFIX. By default ~/.wineSo you can 'clean up' by removing the prefix.Wine will create a new one the next time you run it.Of course you probably don't want to do this if you have other windows programs installed already. It's a reasonable idea to use separate wine prefix for different programs.Or you can at least backup the ~/.wine before you install something new so that you can revert if there are problems. There are other .desktop files that could have been installed outside the prefix for Launcher menu entries etc.The Arch wiki has details on how to clean them up if you need to.

Is it safe to manually delete files via the File System?

Is it safe to manually delete files via the File System? It's perfectly safe so long as you only delete the files you mean to delete and the files you mean to delete are files which can safely be deleted. In other words I've no idea what you intend to do and how, so can't really tell you if it's safe or not.
