The Scottish government rowed backwards pretty fast see here; cats are really popular in the UK. My owner, Brandy (also known as terrorcat), is strongly against feline regulation.

And you'd be right.  Cats absolutely need taurine, a protein only found in birds.  Commercial cat food not based on poultry absolutely adds taurine into the recipe.

Aside from that people should be keeping their cats indoors.  They live longer healthier lives mostly.  Scott's have the right of it.  The solution isnt to ban ownership but to require cats be kept indoors in those areas where endangered wildlife exists.  I however live in a city and do what I can to keep my outdoor cats healthy.   I feed and refer them to services when needed as I am able.

Cats hunting also help to control vermin though, and with rat populations increasing dramatically in the UK and also around the world, that's a good thing. Rats will kill birds too if they get a chance.  (No offence intended to corysanin  :D  - I had a friend with a pet rat once and it was a very nice little thing, but I'm not keen on plagues of wild rats scurrying round the house!)

Nori (sushi wrap) is a source of taurine and has a bacteria good for teeth, in that it kills strep and strips plaque.

 :D I appreciate the shout-out lol! I loved my clan of rats when I had them, they were so friendly. No more rats around here but funnily enough I have a cat now..

I had read a book on the link between humans and rats, and how we blame them for things that are objectively not true, like the plague and many other things.

I cannot remember it's name now.

It's the  Toxoplasma gondii that controls me  :'(
I always follow the don't ask, don't tell policy when it comes to private matters like someone's status with T. Gondii

I don't see anything strange here. Anglo -Saxons (I don't want to offend anything) always behaved similarly. Initially, they burned beautiful women on the fire, accusing them of witchcraft. As a result, Anglo -Saxon women are not beautiful because they have been destroyed by genetic beauty heredity. The cats were then killed because of its witchcraft helpers. As a result, as the cat population decreases, Western Europe was caught by mice and rats, which everyone knows, carrying a bubonic plague. And Western Europe is a plague epidemic that has eradicated millions of people.

Now the story is repeated. And cats, in my deep conviction, are the best friends of the people. These are mystical beings worshiped by ancient Egypt. People who hurt cats deserve (and receive) the wrath of the gods. I raise four cats  and I am glad that I do not live in the Anglo -Saxon country.
