According to Wikipedia:
"Since 2015, Tsinghua has been ranked as the best engineering and computer science school in the world"
"Since 2015, Tsinghua University has overtaken the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to top the list of Best Global Universities for Engineering published by the U.S. News & World Report"
Thank you indeed, and a great example you have set to encourage Artix users to continue to improve their abilities.  ;D

Nothing against Tsinghua but Wikipedia is not to be trusted.

Perhaps sometimes, and there are probably other charts, but a Number One is still a Number One! Searching around, China seems generally acknowledged to have more supercomputers, the best programmers, and considerably more computer exports than any other country, having overtaken everywhere else in the last few years. China doesn't lead on total computers in use or computers per capita though. The claim seems reasonable, reading it on my Chinese manufactured computer...
So I think it is an accolade for Artix as well that there should be a mirror there, and good thinking PaoJiao to secure that.  ;D

Rationally, without going into details of politics, if you look at red hat's board of directors, it is to be expected other countries outside US empire take interest in systemd free Linux, even though, everything china block, they implement domestically. Eg chinese equivalent to ebay, google etc...

I don't think nationality has much to do with the direction of development anymore in any field.  In the particular case of a chinese university it may be relevant, but the interests of states and particularly "empires" do not vary much.  Social control is their main role.
I thought systemd came from Germany, but if RH is the main drive behind it, it wouldn't matter where the developers came from.
I believe the decisive distinction between healthy and evil is in the large organizations/corporations and small underground driven projects.

To a certain degree in large universities students and researchers are allowed resources to utilize under their own autonomous needs and interests.  I don't know how true this may be in China but I believe it may still be true there too.  I don't think some high command bureaucrat makes the decisions on what to host on the servers unless it is direct political anti-establishment content.  So we should be thankful directly to those researchers in the university that decided to host artix, not the state itself.

No - it doesn't work like this, but the boosterism is indeed disturbing.

Sure, why not, but I still don't trust or like the Chinese, and they are not to be trusted. This is not to say anything about the trustworthy of the US's trustworthiness.   Nobody gets a pass and they are open to criticism.  But lets not pretend that all countries are the same and that affiliations with the Netherlands and Greece are the same as Communist China, North Korea, Venezuela, Iran, Turkey  or Russia.  That might be fine for the UN, but I'm not in the UN.

But FWIW, that is not what I was originally speaking of.  China can claim all they want about the wonders of their universities.  They are not MIT.  In 50 years they will not be MIT. for a whole bunch of reasons but the  first problem is that they are in Communist China whose best engineering feat is to get Western Countries to by products made with Chinese slave labor.  They are not MIT, or Standford, or Techion, or Polytech, or Cambringe, or the Plank institute, or  TU Delft, or Harvard, etc.

Wikipedea is a maffia of its own and influenced by crazy people who spend all day on the internet figuring out the rules of wikipedia.  And they are bent by national and international interests.  Truth matters nothing on wikipedea.

No it is not and China still locks up university professors for not following the party line.

That is definietely not true.  China's vested industiral ologarchies completely control technological research and the universities in China, and you are playing with your life with you toy with them.

Everyone, stop it now.

EDIT: Thank you again, @PaoJiao, for taking the initiative with the Tsinghua University.
