Laptop does not wake correctly from hibernation.

After working great for months, by old Dell E6410 (suite 66 xfce) has been giving me trouble with waking up properly from hibernation.

It will wake to the gui logon screen and after credentials are entered I just get a blank screen. CTRL-ALT-F1 will land me in the terminal so it isn't frozen or anything. I can reboot from there and everything boots normally. Sleep also wakes up normally.

I am a bit of a born-again noob as I dabbled in linux 10+ years ago but am only now relearning to be more than an end-user after finally getting tired of windows 10-11 privacy issues.

You use lightdm?

From tty1, instead of reboot, restart lightdm (or sddm) to see what happens.

If this is a result of an update, it can only be caused by a kernel or a kernel module (video driver...) update.

Other than that, check dmesg and system logs (files in /var/log) for a possible cause.

You have Artix accountservice pkg installed? If not, try to install it and enable/start the service.

Thank you guys for your help and patience with this. The accountsservice package was in fact not installed.

I am now having a little trouble with the enabling syntax. I looked up 66-enable at obarun and I tried a few different ways but I am encountering tree/unable to resolve source path errors. These are just a sample of my ignorant attempts.

First of all, there is no init service for the accountsservice, it is started through D-Bus.

Second, even if it was a service managed by init, you don't need the -t parameter, as I said above.

Third, even if -t parameter was needed, its syntax is

Note: The linked article does include the -t option, but in most cases it is not needed. It is only needed when you are dealing with the service not in the tree marked as "current". By default, the tree named "default" is marked as "current", and most non-essential services added by users fit into that tree.
